Horse History
Crazy Crackers is an unraced 2 year old gelding, purchased at Arqana Sales in France during the Summer of 2022. He was named by his previous owners, Al Asayl Bloodstock. They sent him into training with top French trainer, Francis Henry Graffard. The previous connections seek to breed champions whilst campaigning horses at the highest level. He didn’t appear to meet their requirements. As a raw backwards 2 year old with plenty of development and growing both in his mind and body still to undergo. Our trainer Ivan Furtado felt Crackers looked an untried exciting prospect with an immense amount of potential. Ivan had been impressed with his interesting pedigree, which stemmed the initial interest. With the correct regime and training this young horse has it all there ready to show. He is proving to be a worthy investment and definitely one to watch.
He is by the Four-time Group 1 winner Cracksman, having placed in both the Epsom and Irish Derby before going on to win the Champion Stakes at Ascot twice as well as the Prix Ganay at Longchamp and the Coronation Cup at Epsom. So his bloodlines prove he has the potential to be a winner in his own right.
Trained by John Gosden, Cracksman – who was Champion three-year-old in 2017 and Champion older horse in 2018 – was bred by Hascombe and Valiant Studs and was sired by the legendary unbeaten superstar Frankel out of Listed winner Rhadegunda (Pivotal).
Having been retired at the end of his four-year-old career, Cracksman’s final career earnings came to £2,793,063 for owner Anthony Oppenheimer. He had never finished out of the first three in his 11 career starts – winning eight of them.
The magic appears to be passed onto his progeny. From 23 runners in his first crop, Cracksman has sired 10 winners.
Crazy Crackers has the added bonus of qualifying for French Owners Premiums. Ultimately this means his entitled to 80% additional prize money for any prize money collected whilst racing in France.
Ivan and his team have been impressed with Cracker’s current morning workouts and indicate he is close to making his racecourse debut. He is shaping to be a juvenile capable of winning races and giving the partnership great fun. In a short space of time, Crackers has learnt his trade. He looks likely to start off in a maiden / novice race over 8 furlongs in the upcoming few weeks. The strong pedigree offers good resale value for the partnership.
